Every student has the right to discuss with the Counselor

The role of the Guidance Counselor is to help students who have personal, academic or vocational problems. Every student has the right to discuss with the Counselor (in private) any questions he/she may want to have clarified.

The following are typical examples:

  • Personal
  • Difficulties with friends, family, etc.
  • Unhappiness about one’s lack of confidence, shyness, etc.
  • Problems with alcohol, drugs, sexuality, etc.

Academic

  • Poor study habits, etc.
  • Organization skills

The Social Worker

The role of the school Social Worker is primarily to provide counseling to students who are experiencing difficulties either at home or at school that may be preventing their academic progress. In addition, preventative services can also be provided to the school in the form of group work and/or lunchtime information sessions on drugs, cults, etc. for both students and staff.
